LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Local first responders were trained on responding to an active shooter situation on Wednesday.

A local company called "STAT" held an active aggressor drill, training West Buechel Police Department officers. Fern Creek Fire and EMS were also part of the training drill.

West Buechel Police Chief Dwight Tyler said training both sets of responders to be on the same page is important.

"The trends as you've seen have changed often to the point where we have to change our tactics so it's huge that we work together," Tyler said.

That coordination also applies to other police departments. West Buechel Police said it's the same training Louisville Metro Police officers get.
