LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Louisville Ballet is preparing for major growth with a new executive director and millions of dollars headed toward facility improvements.

Felicia Swoope, an arts executive, producer and former professional dancer, will oversee fundraising, community engagement and other efforts as the Ballet expands its work.

She'll work closely with the Ballet's artistic director and board of directors.

"To step into leadership at a milestone moment like this is both a privilege and a profound responsibility. Seventy-five years of artistic excellence, civic partnership and community support is no accident," Swoope said.

Her appointment comes as the Ballet prepares for a major investment in its facilities. Earlier this year, the organization announced it would receive $9 million for facility upgrades.

Swoope said she is excited to help lead the organization through the changes ahead.
