LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Fire Department celebrated 22 firefighters Wednesday who were recently promoted.

The firefighters and their families joined city leaders in the Mayor's Gallery downtown, everyone celebrating on stage. In total, 22 people were promoted through the ranks, ranging from colonel to sergeant to support services.

"If you take this job seriously, every promotion should bring with it a little more stress because you have now taken on additional responsibility," Chief Brian O'Neill said. so no it is not us and them -- you just now have a larger scope of people that you are responsible for, people that you need to care of."

O'Neill also thanked the firefighters and their families for their willingness to take on more for the community.
