LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Animal Services needs help gathering supplies for pets in need.

LMAS is partnering with Metro Councilman Scott Reed and Kroger for a Pet Supply Drive that starts next week.

From June 3-17, they will be collecting dog and cat food, treats, canned spray cheese, canned meats, bully sticks and long-lasting chews, slip leashes, Neosporin and antibiotic creams, coconut oil and puppy pads.

Reed said the effort highlights LMAS' "commitment to reuniting lost pets with their owners, decreasing the population of unwanted animals, and preventing instances of nuisance and dangerous animal encounters within our community."

"By rallying our community together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of shelter animals, ensuring they receive the extra care and support they deserve," LMAS Interim Director Adam Hamilton said.

Donations can be dropped off in designated bins at participating Kroger stores, or directly to Friends of Metro Animal Services at 3528 Newburg Road.

Participating Kroger locations:

  • Prospect Village: 5929 Timber Ridge Drive
  • Springhurst: 9440 Brownsboro Road
  • Eastgate SC: 12501 Shelbyville Road
  • Stony Brook: 9080 Taylorsville ROad
  • Shops of Forest Springs: 12450 La Grange Road

You can also make monetary donations through the LMAS website, here, or the FOMAS website, here.

Organizers said funds raised will be used through FOMAS to support free microchipping and spay/neuter services provided by LMAS.
