LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jefferson County residents can now request storm and flood debris to be picked up from their curbs.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced Friday that an online form to request pick-up after severe weather events is now open

“When storms hit, they don’t just impact physical structures, they can turn people’s lives upside-down. We’re happy to be able to offer some relief from what we know can feel like an overwhelming burden, cleaning up what is left behind from the storms and flooding,” Greenberg said in a news release.

According to a news release, more than 1,200 homes and businesses have been impacted by storms and flooding in Louisville.

“While there is still work to be done, the progress so far wouldn’t have been possible without our agencies, our contractor and our community working together,” Jody Meiman, Executive Director, Louisville Metro Emergency Management said in a news release. “We continue to ask for patience as recovery and cleanup efforts continue through the weekend.”

Residents are reminded that the curbside service is only for storm and flood related debris. Household hazardous waste won't be accepted.

Residents must fill out the form and then wait for further instructions for when to bring the debris to the curb. Businesses should contact and go-through their insurance for assistance.
