LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Officers for Louisville Metro Police recently spent an afternoon serving up some burgers and fries at a local White Castle.
LMPD officers were canvassing an area around Seventh Street and Algonquin Parkway where a homicide occurred. That led police to visiting a White Castle to talk to managers and employees about their concerns for the area. LMPD wanted to learn what those citizens believed were the best practices for curbing violence.
After working with White Castle's management team on what a community partnership could look like, police were invited to get a first-hand look at the lunch rush.
Police offers put on aprons and worked the line to cook burgers, fries and the ordering counter.
"A simple conversation can lead to making things happen in our community and by serving the community in many different ways ... even on a grill," LMPD said in a post on Facebook.
