LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A familiar community event celebrating National Parks and Recreation Month returns to Louisville this weekend.

The annual Saturday in the Park event will take place Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Joe Creason Park.

This year's theme, "The Power Of," is meant to recognize how parks bring communities together through nature, play and belonging.

"Our city parks and recreation programs create opportunities for people to connect, stay active, and build stronger and healthier neighborhoods," said Mayor Craig Greenberg. "We're proud that Louisville Parks and Recreation continues to make that impact every day."

Along with live music from the local band The Salty Dawgs, attendees can enjoy food trucks, West Sixth Brewing, field day events and other hands-on activities for the whole family.Ā

People will also get an up close look at some of the equipment that helps maintain parks around the city, includingĀ snowplows, remote-controlled mowers, and other specialty vehicles.

Saturday in the Park is free to attend. Click here to learn more.
