LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville is taking a closer look at how to make downtown and NuLu safer for people on foot.

A new city report outlines several changes aimed at slowing traffic and calming busy streets.

The recommendations include shifting more one-way streets to two-way, and removing extra lanes that officials said encourage speeding.

The plan also calls for replacing 34 traffic signals with stop signs to make crossings easier and more predictable.

City leaders said the goal is to create streets that feel safer and more inviting for pedestrians.

The report focuses on improving walkability while still keeping cars moving.
