LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Future Healers, a Louisville youth health program, is headed to the national spotlight after being selected for a prestigious Aspen Institute fellowship.

Christopher 2X, executive director of 2X Game Changers, was named a 2026 Global Innovators Healthy Communities Fellow — one of just eight leaders chosen nationwide.

The recognition highlights the "Future Healers Kiddos Medical Program," which introduces young people to careers in medicine and trauma care while also focusing on violence prevention and community healing.

Christopher 2X’s Game Changers supports children impacted by gun violence through the initiative, a partnership with UofL Hospital’s Trauma Institute and students at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. The program aims to help Louisville youth affected by neighborhood violence explore health care careers and build a better future.

Launched in 2021, the program has grown from 25 students to more than 1,300 youth across Louisville and surrounding communities — and most recently rural areas.

In February of 2025, the nonprofit announced the program's expansion to Bardstown, the first rural expansion in the state. The program for children ages 4 to 13 years old has already expanded to Nashville.

Gov. Andy Beshear honored the program for the collaboration in Bardstown in November of 2025.

As part of the fellowship, Christopher 2X will share the program’s impact with national and global health leaders in Washington, D.C. and at the Aspen Ideas Health Festival in Colorado this year.

He said the goal is to expand opportunity for young people while addressing deeper community challenges.

"This opportunity allows us to elevate the work happening in Louisville," Christopher 2X said. "Future Healers is about more than careers in medicine — it’s about changing lives."
