LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Mammoth Cave National Park took to Facebook over the weekend to poke fun at an unnamed study listing it among the "most disappointing U.S. tourist attractions."

The study reportedly found that the massive Kentucky cave system visited by tends of thousands of people every year is "very dark" with "nothing cool" to see.

"If you would like to experience the disappointment of Mammoth Cave, visit our website and choose from one of our many activities that will leave you unfulfilled!" the park wrote on Facebook. "You can be disappointed by a "dry hole with very few stalagmites and stalactites" or discover nothing "other than trees" on over 80+ miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding, and water trails.

Earlier this year, Southern Living listed Mammoth Cave National Park as one of the most underrated destinations in the South.

"Between Yellowstone and Yosemite (and dozens of other parks in between), the West is known for being home to the country’s most mind-blowing national parks," Southern Living's Tara Massouleh McCay wrote. "And while the South gets credit for having the most-visited park in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, many people overlook our region’s other parks. Located in south-central Kentucky, Mammoth Cave National Park's limestone formations and underground passageways make up a 400-mile-long system that showcase Earth's evolutionary stages and is the longest known cave system on the planet. Explore its mysterious tunnels on one of the park’s many guided cave tours that range from a wheelchair accessible tour to one that requires crawling. You can even see the cave by lantern."
