LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A man died after crashing into a tree Saturday evening in Okolona.
According to Louisville Metro Police, officers were dispatched around 6:15 p.m. to the 9900 block of Blue Lick Road on a reported crash.
When officers arrived, they found a pickup truck that had crashed. They believe the male driver, the sole occupant, lost control while heading south and went off the pavement. LMPD believes he overcorrected and crossed both lanes before hitting a large tree on a nearby property.
Officers said the man was wearing a seat belt. The man was taken to UofL Hospital where he later died.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim Sunday as 56-year-old David Stanton of Shepherdsville.
Police said no other vehicles were involved.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
