Man killed in crash on I-264 West identified, driver charged with murder, DUI

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is facing murder and DUI charges after a fatal crash early Saturday on I-264 West near Taylor Boulevard.

Police responded to the scene of the two-vehicle crash around 12:30 a.m. Saturday between Taylor Boulevard and Dixie Highway.

LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley said the driver of a westbound traveling car, 25-year-old Jacob Clayton, told police the vehicle in front of him hit their brakes and he swerved to avoid hitting them.

According to police, Clayton then ran off the right shoulder of the interstate, hitting another vehicle that was disabled on the shoulder of the road.

A man sitting in the front passenger seat of that disabled vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, Smiley said. He was identified Saturday afternoon as 35-year-old LaDavid Al Juawn Delorch.

Clayton remained at the scene and was arrested on charges of murder, DUI, and driving without insurance.

All four lanes of I-264 west near the crash were shut down as police investigated.
