LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A scene from a movie is how a Kentucky couple  describes their terrifying experience while driving across the Sherman Minton Bridge.

As Chris Barton and Tracy White were crossing the bridge, about to take the exit to New Albany, a piece of metal equipment flew into the back window of their truck and hit Barton in the head.

"I initially thought that he had been shot," White said.

Barton said once it happened, he glanced over and saw a truck driving by. He suspects the piece of equipment came from that truck.

"It was a pretty intense situation, was able to maintain the truck, get it off the highway and get to safety. I was bleeding pretty good," Barton remembers.

Once they got off the exit, they called an ambulance.

"There was a whole lot of blood, I really thought he had a humungous hole in the back of his head, which I couldn't understand how he was conscious. I really believe he had an angel that day," said White.

Now several days later, Barton and White are still trying to find the owner of the truck. They've hired a lawyer to help.

The couple said they don't want to get anyone in trouble. They just want to show how easily someone can get hurt, if people aren't careful with equipment.

"It's real important that you check your load no matter who it is. Big trucks, small trucks, lawn equipment, anything when you're hauling a trailer just double check and make sure things are secure," says Barton.

White asks if anyone recognizes the truck or knows the owner to come forward.
