LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Rahaman Ali, Muhammad Ali's younger brother has passed away.
According to the the Muhammad Ali Center, he died on Aug. 1, 2025. He was 82 years old.
Rahaman Ali was born on July 18, 1943 as Rudolph Arnett Clay to Cassius Marcellus Clay Sr. and Odessa Grady Clay. Rahaman followed in his brother’s boxing footsteps with a professional boxing career from 1964 to 1972.
After his professional career came to a close, Rahaman traveled and trained with Muhammad Ali.
The Muhammad Ali Center's President and CEO DeVone Holt said Rahaman was a "fervent supporter" of the center, often showing up at events to meet with fans.
"You can’t tell Muhammad’s story without mentioning Rahaman," Holt said. "He was one of the most constant sources of support for Muhammad during this career and their relationship was a true example of what it means to be 'my brother’s keeper.'"
Holt said Rahaman felt a duty to make sure he attended events at the Ali Center to celebrate his brother and his legacy. "When you saw people walk through the door and they saw Rahaman you would see their eyes light up almost as if they had already seen Muhammad himself."
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. The details about what caused Rahaman Ali's death have not been publicly shared.
