N-F-L quarterback Michael Vick became a star for his success on the football field.

But that was all overshadowed when he pleaded guilty to illegal dog fighting in 2007.

Now, Vick is back with a pro team, the Philadelphia Eagles, and is opening up about his life outside football.   He says despite his violent reputation with animals, he always loved dogs.

He was banned from owning a dog for three years, as part of his 2007 conviction for dog fighting.  But that ban expires this month.  And Vick says he wants his children to have a dog. Vick says it would be unfair to deny them the opportunity to have a pet.  But he says he would not get them a pit bull.
