LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — An inmate from the Nelson County Correctional Center who walked off his work program Tuesday was taken into custody Saturday.

Jerry Nation fled from his work duties near Wire Lane in Bardstown, Kentucky, around 3:30 p.m., according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.

The Nelson County Sheriff's Office posted a picture on social media Saturday showing Nation taken into custody by officers.

Nation was participating in garbage pickup duties in coordination with the Nelson County Road Department as a part of 12-month sentence. He was expected to be released November of this year.

Hall said once Nation was located, he would face additional charges and potentially get another five years added to his existing sentence.

Police are still searching for a man who escaped last week from a transport vehicle outside the Nelson County Correctional Center in Bardstown, Kentucky.
