LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana emergency service will soon be getting the new equipment it needs.
New Chapel EMS board of directors approved the new equipment. New Chapel EMS president and CEO Matt Owen called it a major step forward to changing the way the organization works and who it serves.
"With the installation of this new equipment, we will have inter-operability to partner with our local 911 center to give them real-time GPS tracking of ambulances in Clark County," Owen said in a news release.
The new upgrade equipment will help the 911 center give real-time GPS tracking with ambulances, 12 new Panasonic Toughbooks, mounts and other accessories were purchase.
The $80,000 investment was paid entirely by New Chapel EMS. Installation of the new products will be completed by the end of the summer.
"Currently, New Chapel officials can already track ambulances in real-time. This upgrade in hardware was specifically sec'd out to allow for a secure AVL that is in many police cars and fire apparatus in the county, on the county system," Owen said. "This will allow not only for the 911 Center to see where ambulances are responding from, but it will allow our other first responders in the field to see the same data."
