LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — No one was injured after a fire broke out in a vacant building in Louisville's Russell neighborhood.
The Louisville Fire Department was called about 11:22 Wednesday morning to reports of smoke in the 2500 block of West Chestnut, department spokesperson Donovan Sims said in a statement.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a two-story vacant building on fire.
Firefighters quickly put out the flames and checked for anyone inside. Sims said no one was in the building, and no injuries were reported.
The fire was under control by 11:40 a.m. with 25 firefighters on the scene. Louisville arson investigators are looking into the cause.
Sims said the building is owned by the city’s Landbank, and Codes and Regulation Enforcement Special Taskforce confirmed it will be boarded up after the fire department finishes their work.
