LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- With just over two months left until Election Day, the stress can start to build up for some people.

Dr. Katy Hopkins with Norton Healthcare visited WDRB Mornings on Friday with some tips on how to deal with it.

Elections can be stressful because we can't fully plan or prepare when we don't know the outcome.

Doctors say it's important to acknowledge the stress and talk about it.

Looking ahead to the holidays can also be stressful, as political conversations are common to come up.

"Think to yourself - what are some important personal boundaries that I want to have this holiday season?" Hopkins said. "What are things I think I can do to manage my stress in those family functions?"

Doctors also say to reach out to your family ahead of time and request that they avoid all political conversations if you don't feel comfortable talking about that.
