LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Â The attorney for one-time mayoral candidate and former U of L football player Chris Thieneman entered a not guilty plea for him Thursday morning on wanton endangerment charges.
The judge imposed a no-contact order between Thieneman and the woman at the center of a domestic dispute.Â
Police say Thieneman and the woman were fighting on Brownsboro Road on Monday. She claimed he took her phone and when she left her car in the middle of the road to call for help, she says Thieneman followed and tried to strangle her.
Police say the car was stolen during the fight, but was later found abandoned.
Thieneman's attorney Frank Mascagni said, "They've been courting on and off for several years now. He's disappointed that the relationship has deteriorated like this, and we hope both get ready for a new life separate from each other."
Thieneman was released from jail without posting bond. His attorney said Thieneman is out of state, but would not say why.
