LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana State Police is trying to raise awareness about human trafficking.
Police believe truckers are the eyes and ears of the highways and in the best position to spot potential signs of human trafficking.
Summer Dickerson knows firsthand the darkness of human trafficking. In her youth, she was one of the millions of human trafficking victims.
"So back when I didn't know I was being trafficked, we used to call it a circuit," Dickerson said.
This week, ISP are raising awareness by educating truck drivers.
"They're really our eyes and ears on an operation like this," ISP Sgt. Carey Huls said.
Since Monday, ISP has been stopping commercial drivers and sharing information about human trafficking and what to look for.

It's part of a week-long initiative, but since July, there has also been a new law on the books that requires anyone getting a commercial driver's license in Indiana to complete human trafficking awareness training.
They may not like seeing the flashing lights in the rearview mirror but police said the truckers want to help.
"Very receptive, very happy to help," Huls said.
"When you're in that kind of stuff, it's very rare, especially back then you hear the word trafficking," Dickerson said.
Now that she’s a survivor, Dickerson has dedicated her life to helping other victims and believes police are on the right track with truckers.
"And those corridors, really they go down 65, they go up to 71. They go to 64. And that really makes everything a hub because you can just drive through, you can drop victims off, you can pick victims up," she said.
