LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Crews were busy Wednesday putting some last-minute touches on several of the displays at the Kentucky State Fair, including in the AGland area, the largest exhibit at the fair.
Hundreds of thousands of visitors will head to the Kentucky Exposition Center to check out the 11-day event, and guests will notice several changes this year.
“One thing we did was is we designed a parking map so they can see what lots are paid by your admission and by your parking ticket so you can get a sense of where you can park,” said Cody Patterson, Director of Communication for Kentucky Venues.

More than 700 handicap-accessible spaces are now located at LOT N right next to the rides in the Thrillville area. It’s one of the biggest requests guests wanted changed for this year.
“We have an accessibility vendor adjacent to that, so our guests can have the services they need when they come to the fair,” Patterson said.
Next to LOT N is the new outside concert series location. More than 4,500 seats are set up in the northern part of the property instead of the performances at the old Cardinal Stadium. The concerts, featuring 26 bands, are free to anyone with paid fair admission. Seating is first come, first served.
The new Bluegrass Village is located next to the concert area near Kentucky Kingdom, a place where guests can hang out before or after a concert since seating is first come first served.
“There is going to be an area where we have cornhole, we have quarterback challenge, craft bourbon and beer, food trucks (and) there is a video game trailer,” Patterson said.
Fair officials are also urging people to buy their tickets online which offers them at a cheaper rate and can expedite parking lines.
This year opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. instead of at night on the first day. The change is to accommodate the annual Commodity Breakfast.
