LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People enjoyed Halloween festivities around Louisville Sunday.Â
The Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory held the 9th annual Home Run Halloween event. Admission was free for children in costumes as they could explore the museum and trick-or-treat at 13 different spots.
The baseball museum also offered a special-edition mini-bat. There were also live bats from the Second Chances Wildlife Center and representatives talking about the importance of bats in the ecosystem. The first 300 guests also received a free mini-pumpkin.
"Really great attendance, the weather is just absolutely perfect so we are really excited to welcome all these folks and a lot of local folks coming downtown, checking us out and having a lot of fun," Slugger Education and Programming Manager PJ Shelley said.
In Highview, Louisville Metro Police Department hosted a Halloween event. LMPD's 7th Division held Halloween in Highview at Highway Park at 7201 Outer Loop.
"I can't pick a favorite one," LMPD Resource Officer Tonya Landry said. "There are some really elaborate ones, there are some really smart ones, there are some really simple ones but the most important thing is that I see the smiles. That is the best costume out here is all the smiles we see out here."
FEAT and Park Community Credit Union teamed up to host a sensory-friendly trunk-or-treat event on Sunday afternoon. The free Halloween event was held for the sixth year.
