LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People walking around downtown Louisville were surprised with candy on Valentine's Day.
Wednesday, people were treated to candy branded with "Downtown LOVE" from the city's ambassadors.
Charles Coleman believes the key to happiness is simple.
"If I can make someone else happy, it makes me even more happy," Coleman said.
He believes if a person leads with their heart, they'll be able to make a difference.
"Did you know you can't spell Louisville without spelling love?" Coleman said.
He is one of several downtown Louisville ambassadors who spread some love on Wednesday, handing out candy to people around the city.
"To show our appreciation for y'all being in downtown Louisville," Coleman said.
Louisville Downtown Partnership has passed out candy on Valentine's Day to visitors, residents and workers for 18 years.
Coleman and his team of ambassadors try to spread love seven days a week. They give people directions, share restaurant recommendations and even help people find their hotels.
"Look for people that need some assistance and guidance and understanding about downtown Louisville," Coleman said.
Coleman uses what he calls international language to communicate with everyone.
"A smile and a wave, even if they don't talk English, they understand that," Coleman said. "We know we all are going through problems, but you don't have to show it. You can't control how you feel, but you can control how you act on them."
The ambassadors also walk with people to make sure they get to their destination safely. To reach the team, call (502) 664-8654.
