LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Jefferson County Public Schools teacher has been arrested after police say he sent sexually explicit text messages to a 15-year-old girl.

According to an arrest warrant, 39-year-old Casey Kays "continuously texted and called" the 15-year-old from July 1 to Sept. 18.

Police say he sent messages "telling her that he loves her and wants to see her naked."

Kays allegedly admitted to one of the girl's parents that he had a sexual relationship with her, and refused to stop contacting her, despite multiple requests from the parent, and a letter from JCPS.

In addition to being the girl's teacher, police say he was also her volleyball coach.

An arrest warrant was issued for Kays, charging him with engaging in an unlawful transaction with a minor -- a misdemeanor count.

He was booked into Metro Corrections on Friday.

Ben Jackey, a spokesperson for JCPS, released the following statement Friday afternoon.

"Due to an ongoing District investigation and police investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment at this time.  The employee was placed in non-instructional duties before the school year began when the allegations surfaced."
