LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā A teen was shot and another person was hospitalized Saturday after a police pursuit from Oldham County ended in west Louisville.
Louisville Metro Police assisted at about 4:23 p.m. with a high-speed pursuit from Oldham County that ended in the area of 41st Street and W. Muhammad Ali Boulevard, according to department spokesperson Adam Sears.
Sears said LMPD officers provided aid to a male occupant in the vehicle who was shot during an incident outside of Jefferson County. The male occupant was taken to UofL Hospital with what appears to be non life-threatening injuries.Ā
La Grange Police Chief Greg Collett said it all started about 4:11 p.m. when Oldham County Dispatch received a report of a shooting in the 1600 block of Betances Court in the Pear Orchard neighborhood.
Police found a 16-year-old boy who had been shot, and police were notified a black Chevy Malibu with three people inside fled the scene.
Oldham County Police found the car traveling on Interstate 71, prompting the pursuit into Louisville.Ā
The other people in the car fled before or after the pursuit, police said.
The 16-year-old found shot on Betances Court was taken to UofL Hospital. His condition is unknown.
Residents in the neighborhood were caught by surprise.
"I was just walking my dog around the neighborhood," said Xavi Gonzales, who lives in the area. "I saw ambulances, a fire truck, and a couple of police cars."
And they are alsoĀ waiting for answers.
"Not a lot of bad stuff happens in this neighborhood," Gonzales said.Ā
