LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Election Day in Kentucky is Tuesday, Nov. 7. But ahead of that date, Kentuckians can cast their ballots during a three-day early voting period that began Thursday.

Early in-person, no excuse voting runs from Nov. 2-4. To find out where early voting is available in every Kentucky county, click here.

For Louisvillians, Jefferson County has 10 early voting locations open 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Those include:

  • The Arterburn at 310 Tin Pin Lane
  • The Jeffersonian at 10617 Taylorsville Road
  • Kentucky Center for African American Heritage at 1701 W. Muhammad Ali Blvd.
  • Lyndon Elks Lodge #2052 at 904 Ormsby Lane
  • Sun Valley Community Center at 6505 Bethany Lane
  • Mary Queen of Peace gym at 4005 Dixie Highway
  • Triple Crown Pavilion at 1780 Plantside Drive
  • Kentucky Exposition Center East Hall A&B at 937 Phillips Lane
  • Old Forester's Paristown Hall at 724 Brent St.
  • Bowman Field Administration Building at 2815 Taylorsville Road

Dozens of people waited in line Thursday morning at the Bowman Field location as some of the first in the state to vote during the first day of early voting.

"It's wonderful," said Phyllis Ferrell, a Louisville resident who voted Thursday. "I've never been to an early voting that has been this packed, and it's absolutely inspiring to see so many people out here wanting to participate in the process that we use to make this country work."

Ferrell said the 25-minute wait in line wasn't a bother but rather something exciting to be part of.

"I didn't hear the first complaint," she said.

Erran Huber with the Jefferson County Clerk's Office said he was glad to see so many people taking the time to participate in early voting. Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams said earlier this week that in the past three elections, about 15% of votes cast came from early voting a number he'd like to see increase. On Thursday, Adams said he was encouraged by the turnout.

"Not since 2020 have I seen folks lined up at the very beginning on the first day of early voting," he said.

County clerks in Bullitt and Hardin counties also said things were going well Thursday with voter turnout.

Bullitt County has three early voting locations:

  • Paroquet Springs Conference Center at 395 Paroquet Springs Drive in Shepherdsville
  • Mt. Washington First Baptist Church at 320 N. Bardstown Road in Mt. Washington
  • Hillview Government Center at 283 Crestwood Road in Louisville

Those locations are open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For more information about early voting and voting on Election Day in Bullitt County, click here.

Hardin County has two early voting locations:

  • Hardin County Clerk's Office at 150 N. Provident Way in Elizabethtown
  • Colvin Community Center at 230 Freedom's Way in Radcliff

Those locations are open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 pm. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. For more information about early voting and voting on Election Day in Hardin County, click here.

Adams said he hopes by allowing people to vote on multiple days, it will help decrease lines and wait times.

"I don't think I've ever been to a polling place where I had to wait this long and where people were just coming out of the woodwork to vote," Ferrell said Thursday. "I think it's exciting."
