LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Democratic vice president hopeful Tim Walz made a stop in Louisville for two hours, appearing at a private fundraiser Wednesday.
The Minnesota governor landed at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport about 4:20 Wednesday, accompanied by his daughter, Hope.
The Harris campaign did not say where the private fundraiser was held in Louisville, but WDRB learned Walz left Louisville with $2 million to add to the coffers in the closing days of the presidential campaign.
Several hours before his plane touched down in Louisville, the Democratic vice presidential candidate voted with his family in Minnesota.
"Super exciting cast my vote for Kamala Harris, and had my son with me, Gus, to vote for the first time," Walz told the media earlier Wednesday.Â
When Governor Walz stepped off the plane in Louisville, he was met by a small contingency of Kentucky Democrats, with one notable exception. Lt Governor Coleman stood in for Governor Andy Beshear. You will remember Beshear was on the short list to be Kamala Harris' running mate.
While Walz shook hands, he was less than 30 yards from a line of waiting media, but didn't take any questions.
On the other side of the country, Ohio Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential hopeful, was on his first campaign stop of the day.
"It is great to be in Reno, Nevada, and in 13 short days, we are going to turn Nevada red," Vance said.Â
From different corners of the country and less than two weeks before election day, the sharp barbs of politics flew without restraint.
"Those closest to Donald Trump know how dangerous he is — the desire of Donald Trump to wish he had generals like Adolph Hitler had," Walz said.
"But in the name of a far left lunatic progressive idea, we are destroying girls sports in this country it is going to have ramifications far beyond athletic competition," Vance said.
