LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana Gov. Mike Braun has signed an executive order banning transgender women from participating in college sports.

The Republican governor also signed a second executive order saying there are only two genders, male and female. It comes weeks after President Donald Trump signed similar executive orders.

"Biological sex with the ever shifting self-reported idea of gender identity has real consequences," Braun said. "It's the way we think it should be here in Indiana to keep it simple and to make sure there's not confusion."

The NCAA has also banned transgender women from competing in women's sports. The president of the NCAA said of the half million student athletes, there were fewer than 10 transgender athletes competing on the college level.
