LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A so-called "Anti-Puppy Mill" bill is making its way through Indiana's General Assembly.

The Canine Standards of Care bill passed its second reading in the House on Thursday.

Part of the bill would overturn 21 local ordinances, that ban pet stores from selling dogs from puppy mills or from selling dogs and cats entirely.

The bill would allow the Indiana Board of Animal Health to oversee pet stores and animal shelters.

The bill will receive its third reading on Monday, Jan. 29. If it passes, it'll go to the state Senate.
