LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky voters head to the polls Tuesday for the May Primary.

In addition to the presidential races, among the most watched races for Louisville are races for Metro Council, U.S. Congressional Districts and Kentucky Legislative races.

For U.S. Congress, Democrats Hank Linderman and William Compton will go head to head in the race for U.S. House District 2. The winner of this race will face incumbent Congressman Brett Guthrie in November.

Democratic 3rd District congressman Morgan McGarvey is running for re-election and faces two challengers, Geoffrey Young and Jared Randell. The Democratic winner will face the winner of the Republican race, either Dennis Ormerod or Mike Craven.

For U.S. House, District 4 Republican incumbent Rep. Thomas Massie faces Michael McGinnis and Eric Deters.

U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers is serving his 22nd term and hopes to keep his 5th District seat representing eastern Kentucky. Rogers faces three challengers Dana Edwards, Brandon Monhollen and David Kraftchak.

In central Kentucky, Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Andy Barr does not have any challengers in the District 6 primary. Five candidates are running for the Democratic nomination for the 6th District including Randy Cravens, Jonathan Richardson, Todd Kelly, Don Pratt or Shauna Rudd.

Multiple Kentucky Senate and House seats are choosing candidates for the November general election.

In Louisville, there are also primaries for Metro Council seats including 11 Democrats running for District 4. There are also Democratic contests for Districts 2,6,8, 14 and 24 Republican contests for Districts 12, 14, 18, 20 and 22.

City council races for Shively and La Grange are on the ballot, as well as Commonwealth's Attorney races in Bullitt and Shelby/Spencer/Anderson and a Circuit Court Clerk race in Marion Counties. 

Polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. (local time) on Tuesday.
