LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Government employees and operations are as normal thanks to a temporary funding agreement from Congress.
There's still some negotiating left to be done though as the next potential shutdown deadline is Dec. 20.
Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul-R said there needs to be 12 separate spending bills for each division of government.
"What happens now is we don't ever find a compromise because nobody is willing to compromise, to cut anything because they just accuse the other side of shutting the government down," Paul said. "And then people say, 'well, I don't want to be responsible for that.' And so government stays open but it continues to borrow money at about the same clip," Paul said.
Paul said he hopes to see cutbacks to help lower the country's debts.
