Self-proclaimed 'bishop' apologizes for shaming shoplifters on Facebook

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man who confronted alleged shoplifters and forced them to apologize on camera is now apologizing himself.

Earlier this month, self-proclaimed bishop Kenneth Hopkins posted videos to Facebook from inside a Dollar General on Dixie Highway in Louisville. Louisville.

Employees say Hopkins was a volunteer who worked security, but because of the videos he was banned from the building.

Hopkins recently posted a nearly 7-minute explanation to Facebook.

"I was there to do a job, and I did my job," Hopkins said in his apology video. "I must say that I could've took it too far when I recorded it on Facebook. But at that time, in my mind, I thought that using the tactic of humiliation could possibly produce change in her life."

The initial videos were removed from Facebook after WDRB contacted Hopkins for comment.

Hopkins says he is with "Beyond the Walls Outreach Ministries" out of Indianapolis.
