CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WDRB) -- A Sellersburg, Indiana, police officer and two other people were hurt in a crash Thursday morning.
It happened about 10:50 a.m. at State Road 62 and Salem Noble Road near River Ridge Commerce Center in the area between Jeffersonville and Charlestown.
A witness told WDRB News the marked police SUV and a white SUV collided in the intersection. The police SUV then veered off the road and crashed into a bus shelter before coming to a stop.
All three people involved have injuries that are not considered life-threatening and have been taken to hospitals, Sellersburg Police Chief Russ Whelan said.
The crash shattered the glass of the shelter and bent its supporting frame of the shelter. Airbags in both vehicles likely prevented even more serious injuries.
No one was seated at the shelter at the time of the crash, Whelan said.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
