LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thousands of people are without power across Kentuckiana, and several areas and businesses on Louisville's east end received extensive damage after severe weather moved through the area Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down in Jefferson County, near the Interstate 64/265 interchange. However, meteorologists won't survey the area on the ground until Sunday or Monday as they continue gathering storm reports and await the upcoming days of heavy rain to pass.

By the time the sun rose Thursday, sizeable damage was reported all around east Louisville, especially along Blankenbaker Road and Plantside Drive.

WDRB's Eric Crawford got photos of J&J Transportation, which lost part of the side of their building when it landed on a truck in the parking lot.

As of 6 a.m., about 2,100 LG&E/KU customers in Jefferson County were without power in Kentucky. In Bullitt County, around 90 customers were without power, and more than 800 outages were reported in Meade County.

In Indiana, the National Weather Service confirmed Thursday an EF0 tornado touched down in Lawrence County, near Bedford just before 11 p.m. Wednesday. With 80 mph winds, the tornado was on the ground for .06 miles and damaged a pole barn near state Road 446, leaving only one exterior wall standing.

Duke Energy reported more than 30,000 customers were without power across southern Indiana. The areas most affected are Floyd County, where 13,000 were without power with another 11,000 outages in Jackson County.

The storm started coming through the area just before 10 p.m., bringing tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings to multiple counties across the area.

In Charlestown, Indiana, city officials reported flooded roadways and debris blocking several roads. Crews were being sent out to clear debris and barricade flooded roads.
