LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Shepherdsville man has been arrested after Louisville Metro Police say he was smoking synthetic marijuana while his 6-year-old mentally handicapped son was in the car with him.
According to an arrest report, 20-year-old Jeremy Vanmeter was a passenger in a vehicle at the corner of N. 16th St. and Rowan St. at 8 p.m. Saturday when police stopped the occupants for loitering.
Police say they could detect the scent of synthetic marijuana, otherwise known as "spice."
According to the arrest report, Vanmeter and his alleged accomplices had been smoking spice while Vanmeter's 6-year-old mentally handicapped son was in the car with them.
"It was also very cold," police say, "and the child was in the vehicle without any heat or the car running. The subject was posing a risk and danger to his mentally handicapped son."
Vanmeter was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of spice.
