LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- In Shepherdsville on Wednesday, Mayor Jose Cubero cut the caution tape to start the demolition at the location of the new aquatic center.
It'll be located across from Kart County off Interstate 65. The aquatic center will feature two pools, an indoor track, pickleball courts and a space for group fitness classes.
Construction is expected to take two years.
The aquatic center is part of a $30 million project in Shepherdsville that also includes revitalizing its park and streetscape.
Cubero previously said the pool project will cost between $17 million and $18 million. Shepherdsville received a $30 million loan from the Kentucky League of Cities to help start the project. The city will pay that back over the course of a 25-year period.
