LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It will be a battle of the birds in downtown when the University of Louisville takes on Simmons College of Kentucky at the KFC Yum! Center.

"To be in that atmosphere to be in that kind of arena. The crowd? That's big time basketball, who wouldn't want to have an opportunity to have that opportunity," Simmons coach Tony Branch said.

Thursday was media day for the Simmons College of Kentucky men’s basketball team. Players and coaches took pictures inside the family life center at St. Stephen Church.

The team also announced an exhibition game against the University of Louisville men’s basketball team. The game will feature the son of former Louisville player Mark McSwain, but he will be playing for the falcons.

Simmons Athletic Director Jerry Eaves credits UofL coach Kenny Payne for making this happen.

"I talked to him every day," Marlo McSwain, a Simmons player, said. "To see does he know you're gonna play his teammates? Yes, I told him last week. And he might be here too."

"We're not the level of University of Louisville, athletically, but it's going to be a great contest," Eaves said. "Kenny wants to expose our players to the Yum! Center which is great. Give them an opportunity that they can never have. This will be the only opportunity. They play the University of Louisville, a big time college program. In the instant, our first game, when everyone's coming to see the new product is going to be a sellout. It's going to be really a lot of fun."

The game is set for Oct. 18. For more information, click here.
