LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana student was hit by an impaired driver Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Sellersburg Police Chief Russ Whelan said it happened around 2:30 p.m. near North Indiana Avenue and County Road 403, near Silver Creek Middle and High School.

The 15-year-old student had just gotten out of school, Whelan said, and was conscious and alert after being hit. He was taken to a local hospital. 

David Jeremy was arrested.

No further details were immediately available.
