LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana man died Thursday morning after being handcuffed by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.

According to Indiana State Police, officers responded to a home in Corydon after the homeowner said 43-year-old Jessie Frank Harris was on their patio "acting strangely."

The homeowner told police that Harris used to live at the home but is no longer allowed on the property.

Officers noticed Harris acting erratically and placed him in handcuffs for safety reasons. Police said once Harris was handcuffed, he had a medical event and collapsed.

Harris died shortly after arriving at a local hospital.

According to police, an autopsy was performed Thursday morning, but doctors "observed no apparent physical cause of death."

Investigators believe drugs may be a factor even though toxicology results are pending.

The case remains under investigation.
