LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Texas Roadhouse will move its flagship location in southern Indiana to a standalone site this fall.

Construction is underway at the new site near the Bubba's 33 on Medical Plaza Way, off Veterans Parkway in Clarksville.

According to our partners at Louisville Business First, the new location will replace the original Texas Roadhouse in the Green Tree Mall, opened in 1993 by founder Kent Taylor.

The new location will be the chain's largest location, according to zoning documents. LBF reported the restaurant is expected to span about 10,000 square feet.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the company called the move "bittersweet," but said the new restaurant will "honor the original location's heritage in the architecture and design."

Bubba's 33 is also owned by Texas Roadhouse Inc. The concept was introduced to the Louisville area in 2016 with the Clarksville location.

No closing date for the original location has been set, but the new location is expected to open in mid-November. The nearly 150 employees at the current location are set to transfer to the new location, with additional staff to come.
