LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A special piece of history made its way through Louisville on Saturday.

The Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" was carried past the KFC Yum! Center into Louisville Slugger Field by members of LMPD.

David DeSanctis was there as well, a Louisville Special Olympics athlete and stars in the movie "Where Hope Grows."

"I loved to see the police department carrying in the torch," he said. "I've always loved police work and the police department and they've been doing an amazing job protecting this amazing magical city of Louisville, Kentucky."

The Flame of Hope continued through Bowling Green.

It'll finish its tour of Kentucky when it leaves Paducah on June 8.
