LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The east terminal at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport was shut down for more than an hour Thursday as local, state and federal officers investigated a suspicious package found in the baggage claim area.
In a news release Thursday, spokeswoman Natalie Chaudoin said the suspicious item was found about 11:22 a.m. on the east side of the baggage claim area.
"At this time, the east side of the terminal, both the ticketing and baggage claim levels are temporarily closed," Chaudoin said, adding that the airfield remained open and operational.

Shortly thereafter, she said the incident was cleared around 12:45 p.m.
"Law enforcement determined there was no threat and the east side of the terminal – both the ticketing and baggage claim levels – have fully reopened," she said.
Travelers are encouraged to check their flight status to see if the delay affected plans.
