LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The town of Borden, Indiana was awarded $150,000 to develop a park.
Borden was selected by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana to receive the Quality of Place – Pathways to Progress grant, announced on Tuesday. The funding will help Borden develop the south side of Borden Community Park.
According to a news release, the project includes installation of an inclusive playground and restroom facility. The renovations will also include a permanent water source for hydration centers for visitors.
"Our Quality of Place grants program has been a bright spot for so many areas throughout Clark and Floyd counties," Linda Speed, president and CEO of the Community Foundation said in a news release. "As we approach the program’s fourth project in three years, residents can begin to see how they are transforming our region, especially when it comes to inclusivity. When we make our parks, trails, and other public spaces more accessible to our most vulnerable residents, we ensure that our community is more open and welcoming to all."
The playground will be tailored for children with mobility issues. It will have a slide, climbing and sensory stations. There will also be a handicap-accessible swing set. The park already hosts more than 10,000 guests per year.
