LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A trip to the Thorntons on Shelbyville Road in Louisville on Saturday proved to be a worthy visit for an anonymous man.
The Louisville man said he likes purchasing scratch-off tickets with extra money. He initially bought a $20 ticket and a $5 ticket and won $205. So he decided to try the $50 Millionaire Club Scratch-Off.
He scratched it when he got home and saw he won the $50,000 prize.
"My fiancé was sleeping and I wanted to wake her so bad," he said.
The man said his fiancé thought it was a prank ticket and didn't believe him. After taxes he went home with a check for $36,000.
He plans to do house repairs and save some of the rest. Thorntons will receive $500 for selling the ticket.
