U of L basketball player proposes during graduation

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- At graduation, a well-known UofL athlete had a big surprise for his girlfriend.

Taraneh Momeni dates basketball player Kyle Kuric.

Saturday she was graduating from UofL's School of Dentistry.

When she took the stage, so did Kuric... for a big surprise.

"Sorry to interrupt, but me and her have been dating for about 2 1/2 years, and I love her more than anything, and definitely want to be with her for the rest of my life. I love her very much," said Kuric just before getting down on one knee.

"I had no idea! I knew once he got up there that something was about to happen," says Momeni.

"I played basketball my entire life. Going up and proposing to someone in front of people, I've never done before. So today was a lot more nerve wracking than playing in the Final Four," says Kuric.

Kuric also graduated earlier Saturday.

He said he chose this day, since all their family would be in town and could see the proposal.
