Elizabethtown flash flooding - 6.16.25

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The City of Elizabethtown is asking the public to stay home as the city experiences flash flooding.

In a social media post, the city said "unprecedented rainfall" Monday afternoon has flooded many roads, creeks and subdivisions across Elizabethtown. They're asking residents to stay home and off the roads if possible.

Crews from the Elizabethtown Fire Department completed about eight water rescues, including a car that hydroplaned on Western Kentucky Parkway. Someone was injured and transported to Baptist Health Hardin, according to a department spokesperson Amy Inman.

Elizabethtown Police posted on social media a list of impassable roads:

  • French Street at North Mulberry Street
  • West Poplar Street at North Mantle Avenue
  • North Mulberry Street at the train viaduct
  • Peterson Drive
  • Warfield Street at Henry Street
  • Idlewood Court
  • East Dixie Avenue at Nicholas Street
  • Westport Road at Missouri Court

Police also remind people who are out driving and come across flooding, turn around and do not attempt to drive through.
