WDRB's Elizabeth Woolsey went to Hollywood last week to go behind the scenes with American Idol and learn more about the contestants and judges. She spoke with Harry Connick Jr. and Quentin Alexander about what happened between them on the show. You can catch her full story Wednesday on WDRB News at 4 and 10.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's down to the top five on American Idol and we took a trip to Hollywood last week to see the set, meet the judges and speak with the contestants.

I spent time with them before and after the latest live show to find out what goes into it and see how your favorites spend their final hours before they take the stage.

You'll meet them all, and learn which contestants have spent time in Kentucky and Indiana. They'll reveal what's going through their minds right before a performance, who relies on a good luck charm connected to tragedy and the toughest thing about being a part of this hit show.

You see their 90 second performances every Wednesday, but wait until you see what it takes to get to that point. It's grueling, and sometimes things get ugly.

Voters most recently ousted Quentin Alexander, after his heated exchange with judge Harry Connick Jr. the previous week.

Check out video of the incident above and what they had to say when I asked them about it.

Don't miss the report from the set of American Idol in Hollywood Wednesday on WDRB News at 4 and 10.
