LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- This year WDRB used a live drone to bring all the glory of the fireworks to your living room.

You probably watch Thunder Over Louisville every year, whether that's in-person or on TV. But this year, Thunder On WDRB took you to the sky.

The aerial shots of the fireworks flying above the Ohio River were filmed by a dream team called VizionAir.

"It was a special experience," VizionAir Founder Drew Duffin said.

"By far the best view I've had of Thunder yet," Ian Willmot, an operations officer for VizionAir, said.

Willmot and Duffin operated the drones on the roof of the Galt House.

"Having an aerial perspective or a different vantage point, just opens it up. It just opens up that level of creativity and experience for the viewer," Duffin said.

Their Louisville-based business collaborated with WDRB, the FAA, and the air boss to share breathtaking and reimagined views of Thunder Over Louisville.

VIZIONAIR THUNDER OVER LOUISVILLE VIEW

Vizionair used drones to give Thunder On WDRB a view from the sky during the fireworks show.

"We had a blast," Duffin said. "It was it was so much fun. We were hanging out with with production. We had some military pilots and personnel hanging out with us on the roof during the firework show. We had a lot of positive feedback."

Never-ending positive feedback kept their phones ringing behind the scenes.

"It was a treat looking at my phone into the day and seeing like 100 missed calls and text messages and and all of it was positive responses," Duffin said.

There was everything from the view above Fourth Street to the Louisville skyline and the waterfall coming off the Second Street Bridge.

"They had to run 1500 feet of fiber cable from from the floor level all the way up to the roof just to be able to get our live feed," Duffin said.

It was all captured by VizionAir's Inspire 3 drone.

"It helps me have a beautiful skyline and be able to accentuate those angles off," Duffin said. "And luckily, we were able to tie it up perfectly in some of those fireworks."

From hotels to homes -- it was a spectacular experience everyone was able to enjoy.
