LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A water main break shut down a stretch of Lexington Road and left some nearby customers without water service Monday morning.
According to Louisville Water Company, a water main burst around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Lexington Road and Stilz Avenue, near Sacred Heart Academy.
The force of the water damaged the roadway, knocked down a tree and damaged nearby power lines.
As crews worked to repair the break, Lexington Road was closed between Briar Hill Road and Alta Vista Road. Drivers were encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Louisville Water Company said customers nearby may experience low water pressure or no water service while repairs are underway.
In an update, officials said Lexington Road opened up as of 8 p.m. Drivers will be able to get through but caution is urged.
There is no turn onto Stilz or Garden in the area but no customers are out of water.
